Smiling can lead to a relaxation response

“When we smile, the brain wiring gets altered. The chemicals that are released are more positive.” That’s the message from Dr. Anand Chockalingam, a cardiologist at University of Missouri Health Care. He sees a big smile as a good step in keeping stress, and its health consequences, in check. Dr. Chockalingam explains that a smile can lead to a relaxation response, which in turn can lower blood pressure and even improve sugar levels in the bloodstream. He recommends everyone should attempt to generate a smile 20 times an hour.

K-LOVE editor’s note - Even the Bible recommends happiness:

Psalm 118:24 (NLT) “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Proverbs 15:13 (NLT) “A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit.”
